The Phillies hope to continue building their offensive momentum tonight. Last night they had an off day to rest from bad weather. Two nights ago, the Phillies come off a inspirational 10-8 win on Tuesday, which they played typical Phillies baseball. Ben Francisco in for Jayson Werth helped the Phillies take the lead, while Ibanez gave the Phillies a 2 run lead going into the top of the 9th. Brad Lidge saved his third of the season, and 18th in a row at home. The save was not easy for Brade, as the aggressive young Marlins became passive, laying off Lidge’s slider. With bases loaded, 2 outs, 2009 Lidge would have given up 3 runs, but instead was he able to get out of trouble and pick up the save.

Phillies v Marlins 6/8 post game
Kyle Kendrick came out tonight giving up only 1 run in his last two starts. So why was it wrong to assume that he would once again handle the same team a week later? If there one thing that this Phillies pitching lacks is consistency. The month of May it seemed like Doc, Hamels, Moyer and Kyle, where going to hold up the pitching staff. You believe that perhaps maybe this is a good sign and this team might just stay hot. But it is baseball! Unfortunately as you can now tell, there was no success tonight fr Kendrick. Instead, He allowed 6 runs (5 earned) in 5 innings.
