Phillies v Yankees Preview

No Comments Phillies

About six months ago, these two teams played for the most coveted prize in Major League Baseball. Unfortunately for the Phillies, they ended up losing in 6 games. These two teams have went through significant changes in their lineups, since they last met. For the Yankees, they have let go World Series MVP Matsui (Angels) and also Johnny Damon (Tigers). The Phillies let get their ace of the World Series Cliff Lee (Mariners). The Phillies, as you know, added a new ace in Roy Halladay. Halladay who has much experience against the Yankees, is 18-6 vs them. Read more

Inter-league begins (again) & Phillies Preview

No Comments Phillies

Anyone excited? Inter-league begins again! Thats right the next two weeks teams from the NL will clash against the AL. Cannot wait, so excited about this! World Cup Soccer, what? OK OK I’ll be real here. I hate Inter-league. Maybe its because the Phillies stink when they play inter-league games. Phillies, since the first year in ’97 to ’09, are 96-121 .442 Win PCT. This season the Phillies already played few games, remember them? Phillies went 1-2 in the 3 game series vs the Boston Redsox. Remember that series? You should! Thats when everything went down hill. The first game was great, hopeful, we won 5-1; but the bad news was Jimmy Rollins re-injured his calf muscle, and has been out since. Oh yeah, and the next game forward the Phillies stunk! Since that first win vs Boston, the Phillies went 5-12. They were 10 games over .500 and had a nice lead in first place. But now, back in Boston to begin another inter-league the Phillies find themselves tied for second place, 3.0 games back behind Atlanta. Scary?

Phillies v Marlin 6/10/10 Post Game

No Comments Phillies

Enough is enough from this team. Now we have to deal with a team that is Dr. Jekel and Mr. Hyde. What happened after 24 hours? This team went from scoring 10 runs, the first time since May 17th when they scored 12 runs, to a goose egg against Josh Johnson. Yes! Credit is due to the Marlins ace, but you can score more than 1 run! At least last week the team, when they were losing they were losing. Why give us hope only to stomp it the next day?

Suckers, thats what they made us. They put our hopes up so high thinking hey maybe they did snap out of it. Perfect timing because the toughest road trip was right around the corner. But no, they end the home stand with a big fat goose egg.

Phillies vs Marlins 06/10/10 Preview

No Comments Phillies

The Phillies hope to continue building their offensive momentum tonight. Last night they had an off day to rest from bad weather. Two nights ago, the Phillies come off a inspirational 10-8 win on Tuesday, which they played typical Phillies baseball. Ben Francisco in for Jayson Werth helped the Phillies take the lead, while Ibanez gave the Phillies a 2 run lead going into the top of the 9th. Brad Lidge saved his third of the season, and 18th in a row at home. The save was not easy for Brade, as the aggressive young Marlins became passive, laying off Lidge’s slider. With bases loaded, 2 outs, 2009 Lidge would have given up 3 runs, but instead was he able to get out of trouble and pick up the save.
