Letter to Philadelphia Athletes

Dear Philadelphia Athletes,

A fresh start is in order, and we would like to not only re-welcome you to Philadelphia, but thank you all for being brave. Philadelphia is one of the toughtest places to play professional sports in the country. I assure you, we’re a knowledgeable bunch. We do our homework on players, coaches, assistant coaches, you name it. It’s very likely we know what colleges you went to and your stats in college. If you were a free agent, we know what you did with previous teams. Suddenly, all of that becomes irrelevant. You get a new opportunity in Philadelphia to make your mark and become a fan favorite. We expect you to contribute no matter how big or small your role is. When you told people you were coming here, you heard this is a tough fanbase, huh? Unfortunately our reputation precedes us at times. Yes, we threw snowballs at Santa Claus. Fights? Unfortunately we’ve been involved in those more times than we should have.

Season Changing Loss for Eagles? Don’t Count on it.

Like the rest of you, I was pretty mad last night. In fact, I immediately flew off the handle. I said some things that bordered on exaggeration. I woke up today and looked at the clock. I realized it was morning and realized the Eagles loss wasn’t a dream. Welcome to the mind of a Philadelphia sports fan, where a win or loss controls the mood of your following week. We hang our heads during the work day on Monday. Some don’t even go into work. We’re on edge, and ready to verbally assault anyone who says anything negative about the team.
