Flyers Crush Senators in Ottawa 7-2 As Team’s Youth Breaks Out

No Comments Flyers, NHL

The Flyers tonight did something they haven’t done recently. Have a good game against the Ottawa Senators while playing in Kanata, Ontario. The Flyers not only won but won big tonight nearby Canada’s capital city by defeating the Senators in convincing fashion 7-2.

Sergei Bobrovsky got the start between the pipes, and it was his first of the season picking up the victory. Bobrovsky made 21 saves.

Many thought that Matt Read was going to be pretty good. Some journalists even picked him to win the Calder Trophy. However, I don’t think anyone expected he would produce this much this fast. He’s looked real good out there in the first 5 games and has created a lot of scoring chances. It paid off again tonight with 1 goal and 3 assists in the victory.

The Top 5 Options For the Philadelphia Flyers Starting Goalie Position

No Comments Flyers, NHL

The conspiracies are running rampant to say the least since the Flyers season was ended by the Boston Bruins in a dominating sweep. Who will stay? Who will go? Who will or won’t be the captain next season? Who’s the locker room cancer? Who will they trade to make room for a goalie? Everyone needs to take a step back and relax and take a logical look at the situation. It’s no secret that Flyers GM Paul Holmgren would like to upgrade at the goaltender position, but he’ll wait until the time is right and won’t do anything just for the sake of making a move.

Now that the dust has settled, let’s look at some of the options the Flyers have this season. I’ll rank these options that have been discussed in public that the Flyers may pursue. I don’t think all of these options should be seriously considered but let’s talk about them anyway.

What they found out however when arriving in Voorhees Sunday morning was that practice had been canceled. In a little bit of a surprising move, only the healthy scratches and a couple of the aces took the ice with Brian Boucher and Sergei Bobrovsky, but practice was off.

Second Round Preview and Prediction: Flyers vs. Bruins, The Rematch

No Comments Flyers, NHL

Don’t believe in momentum? Sure looked like the Flyers did in the last 2 games against the Sabres to close out their series in 7 games. The Flyers, who were riding off the emotional high of putting 49 shots on goal and winning Game 6 on Ville Leino’s OT goal, dominated Buffalo in Game 7 to win the series. Now the question becomes: Will the momentum carry over into the Boston Bruins series which begins at 3 pm today at the Wells Fargo Center? It might.

Flyers On The Brink of Elimination as Poor Goaltending Early Buries Team

No Comments Flyers, NHL

Here they come again. That’s right. The stories that start piling up year after year when the Flyers are on the edge or eliminated from the NHL playoffs. The articles about how “The Flyers don’t have a goalie.” To be fair, nobody felt goaltending was a problem this year before the Flyers entire team went into a tailspin the final 6 weeks of the season, myself included. Sergei Bobrovsky gave us no reason to believe he would falter and Brian Boucher was having an excellent year. Soft goals were a thing of the past.
